Dickens Christmas in Skaneateles

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the SPaRC get-together at this event has been canceled. The event will still take place, and you are free to go on your own. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Who is your favorite Dickens’ character? Scrooge, Tiny Tim? Join us in Skaneateles and you may see them walking on the streets during Skaneateles’ annual Dickens’ Christmas in Skaneateles. There will be free carriage rides, roasted chestnuts, cider, hot chocolate, and some activities for children. Skaneateles is a charming village with some interesting shops.

40 Below Civic Engagement Task Force announces its third CNY Involvement Fair III,to be held Wednesday, November 18th, from 4 to 7:30 pm at Pensabene’s Casa Grande. Free and open to the public, the event will offer attendees the chance to visit booths from local nonprofit agencies, community groups, professional associations, and area businesses.

For those wishing to volunteer there is no need to register and no registration fee; and need not be members of 40 Below. The goal of the event is connect willing volunteers with organizations in need of their service and to encourage membership with area professional societies.

What: Involvement Fair (like a job fair, bot for volunteer opportunities!
When: Wednesday, Nov. 18, 4 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: Pensabene’s Casa Grande, 135 State Fair Boulevard, in Syracuse (map)
Cost: Free – and there’s plenty of parking, too!

Brunch With the Masters

Spend a Sunday with fantastic food from the Big Easy and music by Los Blancos @ Empire Brewery in Armory Square. We proceed afterwards to soak up the amazing art tour at the Everson Museum of Art that Syracuse is lucky to host. Turner to Cezanne including 53 extraordinary works of art by 29 world renowned artists. The exhibition is on its first tour in the United States and is traveling to ONLY FIVE CITIES in the country. Syracuse is the only city in the Northeast to host the exhibition.

What: Brunch with the Masters
When: Sunday, December 6th
Time: 11:30am for Brunch @ Empire Brewery then head over to the Everson Museum of Art @ 1pm
Cost: $15.00 per person for a ticket into the Everson event. Brunch – cost varies- most meals are less than $10.00 and you are on your own for that.

CNY SPaRC hosts the 40 Under Forty alums

Join CNY SPaRC in honoring this year’s 40 Under Forty as well as the 40 Under Forty alums at Al’s Wine and Whiskey on Clinton Street in Armory Square.

This year’s luncheon is Thursday, November 12, and we will begin arriving at Al’s at the end of the business day, between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

CNY Veterans Parade Volunteers Needed

Please consider helping out as a Marshal the day of the parade. The event is a parade that includes about 10 high school bands, 40 or more veterans organizations, and active and reserve military. They have specifically asked for volunteers from SPaRC.

As a Marshal, you would be asked to direct participants to their lineup area and to various staging areas around the parade. (There will be a meeting before the event.)

The parade starts at noon and you would need to arrive by 10am. The following would be how the Marshal staging areas would be broken up:

Group one: Staging area along Erie Blvd. and such Start around 11:00 end around 1:30
Group two: Start area near Salina street Start around 11:30 end around 2:00
Group three: Salina Street monitoring Start around 11:30 end around 2:00
Group four: From reviewing stand to War Memorial Start around 12:00 end around 2:30
