5th Annual SPaRC Bowling League!

CNY SPaRC Adult Bowling League at Strike N Spare Bowling Alley

CNY SPaRC Bowling League is in it’s 5th year and looking for more fun people to play! Bowlers are optional (although we ask you to give it a shot), and fun folks a must. 10 weeks of fun bowling followed by a party complete with trophies, and great food. $100 covers EVERYTHING for the full 10 weeks (ball, shoes, even the end of season party). If you have questions or would like to discuss payment methods contact Mike Wereszynski.

Date: Begins Thursday, February 4th and runs each Thursday for 10 weeks.
Time: Practice (Yes free practice shots for 5 minutes each week) begins at 7:00 pm and runs until we finish bowling
Cost: $100 for the season (works out to $10/wk) per person. That includes three games, ball shoes if needed, and of course the end of season banquet party.

Moonlight cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Beaver Lake

No experience required!

Beaver Lake will be open until 9pm for select days (if adequate snow cover) to allow people to take advantage of the natural moonlight while on the trails. Bring your own cross-country skis or snowshoes. (If you do not own equipment, snow shoes are available for rental.) The visitor’s center will be open with exhibits and hot chocolate/refreshments for sale at trail’s end. (Night visitors should remember to sign-in and sign-out at the Visitor Center, go with a friend, and bring a flashlight. Some sections of trails may be darker than others.)

Date: Sunday January 24th (Cancellation date is Friday, January 29th.)
Time: Meet at lodge at 6:30pm (Park closes at 9pm.)
Place: Beaver Lake Nature Center, 8477 East Mud Lake Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027 We will meet in the entrance of the lodge.
Cost: Unless you have a membership to Beaver Lake the cost is $3 per car to access the park. (This is payable, at the gate machine, upon exiting.) Snowshoe rental is $3. Refreshments are whatever you buy. (There is a gift shop but I do not know if it will be open at this time.)

Well Aged Words (Storytelling for Adults)

On January 16 it will most likely be cold and snowy outside, but SPaRC will be enjoying the wonder of the spoken word in a warm, intimate setting. Len Cabral will be the storyteller at the International Mask and Puppet Museum this evening. According to the theatre’s website, Len is a storyteller of Cape Verdean ancestry. Len brings his unique perspective to the celebration of African American heritage with stories from Africa, the Caribbean, the Cape Verde Islands, and the southern United States. He is an American
storyteller who was awarded the Circle of Excellence in 2001 by the National Storytelling Network. He is best known for his enthusiastic hand gestures and character voices. Tickets include entrance to an artist’s
reception following the performance.

Time: 7:45 pm (Show starts at 8pm)
Place: We will meet inside the entrance of the Open Hand Theater, 518 Prospect Avenue, Syracuse, New York 13208 (North Salina Street area.)
